KING Construction Services where contracted to create a new stair well for a client. We wanted to create a new space within the cottage element of the building that dates back to the 1800’s with a mixture of the existing stone work and new materials. In order to do so we have to remove the bedroom above to create the space and add an electrically operated Velux window in the roof to add extra light. The walls to the bedroom above were dot and dabbed and we stripped this back to reveal the original stone work which we then re-pointed. We were lucky as we had our sister company on board, TSIpro to move electrics and plumbing enabling us to stay on track and get the work completed in a timely fashion. It was our recommendation to make a feature wall alongside the new oak stairs to enhance the oak and suggested a black slate brick effect as shown in the pictures. Added to this our electricians from TSipro supplied and installed a chandelier which picks up the glitter within the slate wall. All in all a great success and a very happy client.
